God Was Not Successful With The Noah Flood

In the myth of Noah’s flood, God was supposedly sending a message, “If you keep on sinning I will kill you.” After the flood people went right back to living as they had before. God failed. Then he painted himself in a corner by saying he would not kill every sinner again. You’d have to say those ancient writers who made up what God was supposed to have said were not the brightest porch lights on the block.

Someone has compiled 200 myths about floods. There probably were thousands more. Early humans had to live along water like other animals. Thus, they experienced floods that went as far as they could see. They concluded the entire world was flooded. Stories about what the floods meant must be as old as humans.

In the flood myths studied 88% saved a favored family. They were on a boat in 70% of the stories.  Two-thirds of the stories said the flood came because of the wickedness of man. Over have of the stories found the boat coming to rest on a mountain. Nearly all of these stories existed before the Noah story so that raises suspicion of its origin.

The god in the Noah story is a bad guy billboard for those against the Christian religion. He is cruel beyond comprehension.

The Noah character himself is not much better. He just listens to his orders and carries them out without protesting the injustice.

I hope future religions have better myths.

We think it absolutely amazing here we have two creationist biblicists who on occasions give us a literal dam and Eve, a literal Noah with oversize canoe. A ruined world because Eve slipped and Adam tripped and fell and this fall has been the cause of every problem the universe knows.
Don’t they know that global warming is not to be sneezed at, nothing like this would have happened without the fall. Just imagine if things had remain perfect as the perfect, infallible god had wanted we would never have left the Garden in Eden. Going out and tilling the land and so on were the first of the slow steps towards the Industrial Revolution.
As God failed to destroy his creation by drowning, maybe not quite Omnipotent, he had to leave it up to humanity to destroy itself – oxygen deprivation and choking to death while weakened from starvation is the way to go, not only can God not be accused of trying and failing (again) but it is far more cruel than a quick death by drowning. I must admit to being dubious about all theses things, my God would just do it with a word same as he created it — in the end was the word and the word was the end.

Now if these two and any acolytes they may have thing I may just being silly then they just just relax for a while and then seriously reverie all the things they themsmselves say and believe. At least I know it is just talk.

It is amazing what we read here. I’m thinking we need to start over with this climate thing. We need politicians and preachers saying, “The bad change in weather came on us because God is angry. He is mad because we are filling the atmosphere with carbon. This is a sin. You can see it in the Bible, 1 Peter 4:10, ‘Be good stewards.'”

To make this work, we then need liberals to roll their eyes. “No. No. There is nothing wrong with polluting the atmosphere. Those Bible thumping Christians are talking nonsense.”

@ 9;47; Sounds like someone has been studying; “Sinners In The Hand Of An Angry God”. British theologian Jonathan Edwards. Reformed, (Calvinist.).

Catcher is right in his reference. If the likes of Rob and Henry continue with their vicious mockery and permit the ground to become destroyed and soaked and slimy it is inevitable that
Their foot shall slide in due time.
Their sanctimonious righteousness makes them continue to throw hate at the non-believer, to reject the non-believer and encourage him to retain his old ways and reject the grace that is available as a free gift.
Their day will come because as Edwards said:
The devil stands ready to fall upon them, and seize them as his own, at what moment God shall permit him. They belong to him; he has their souls in his possession, and under his dominion. The scripture represents them as his goods, Luke 11:21. The devils watch them; they are ever by them at their right hand; they stand waiting for them, like greedy hungry lions that see their prey, and expect to have it, but are for the present kept back. If God should withdraw his hand, by which they are restrained, they would in one moment fly upon their poor souls. The old serpent is gaping for them; hell opens its mouth wide to receive them; and if God should permit it, they would be hastily swallowed up and lost.

Scripture tells them how wrong they are
        Genesis 1:26
“Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
This dominion is not to use up and destroy for whatever short term benefit you may expect. It is a duty and obligation to preserve and protect not to ravage and pillage.

Genesis 2:15 “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and keep it.”

Advance apologies, it is the middle of the night where I am and I cannot sleep even though weary, the devil is falling on me in a weak moment.

Jonathan Edwards; An interesting person of thought. He was the progenitor of the Great awakenings, (plural). One result was the “burned over areas” which contributed to the climate for the start of JW’s Mormons, and 7th Day Adventists. People went by foot, buggy, etc. through blizzard and storm to hear his sermons. Literally so shocking and apocalyptic they were much like horror movies popular today. Literally to scare the hell out of those in attendance. Purely subjective. Fundamental to these were decision theology, Process theology, works. and political activism. Today, there is talk of another great awakening. All starting with the theology of Edwards. This should sound familiar, “As seen on TV”.

My dear girl, you are so erratic and all over the place, so determined to find something ant-atheist in everything that you are not worth the attempt at following. Good for throwing in a sneaky remark now and then, something I learned from you. Lighten up and laugh none of it is real.
Global flood, covering all the mountain tops, I should think so.

Has the science religion proved that the Jewish religion was a myth? If so, why do we keep talking about it? If science can say that global warming is going to melt the polar ice caps and we are going to die, how is this any different than the Noah story?

    1. entech

Of course science has not and cannot prove that Jewish religion is a myth, any more than it can be proved that science is a religion.
Difference between Global Warming and Noah’s Flood. There are strong indications that Global Warming is happening now, there is nothing but an old book to show that Noah and the flood is anything but myth.
