The BIG statement from religious conservatives released this week from a confab in Nashville was done to send this message: We support 100% our skirt chasing unfaithful President. But, we are 100% opposed to skirt chasing unfaithful men.
The confab was attended by many preachers and Trump administration officials. They rolled out the same political”family and Bible” material they have been talking up for years. The Bible insists, they claimed, marriage was about only one man and one woman. They insisted the Bible condemned marriage between homosexual people which is found no where in the Bible.
Some thought it peculiar the announcement about the conference’s conclusions were released when the county’s attention is focused on Houston. But, probably they thought it was successful. It separated themselves from the sinful life of the politician they are devoted to, Donald Trump.
I’m sure these religious leaders are perplexed by the circumstances they find themselves in. They want to think of themselves as holding the high moral ground. They adhere to a high set of moral standards but endorse a politician who lives lives the low life.
Conferences like this one are a part of the conservative Christian propaganda machine. While their old positions have been stated over and over again, they feel for some reason that if they are preceded by a “conference” and by a news release people will get the impression they are new and important.
They are not important. Conferences like this are held frequently and pronouncements follow. The culture moves on with missing a beat.
